Getting started with Casper

The Casper test is easy to implement and provides you with a psychometrically sound piece of information on non-academic competencies that will help you select the best-suited candidates for your program.

What does Casper measure?

Casper provides data-driven, objective insights into an applicant’s people skills. Giving admissions officers a well-rounded look at an applicant’s non-academic abilities by measuring 10 key competencies: communication, empathy, resilience, professionalism, equity, ethics, collaboration, problem-solving, self-awareness, and motivation.

What you can expect to see with Casper

Widened Access and Participation

A study has demonstrated that there was no correlation between Casper score and rural background and education.

Diversity Impact

Casper has shown a smaller impact on URMs; one third the effect of GPA or MCAT demonstrated through a study conducted by NYMC, but with a commitment to continue to improve.

Reduced Resources

Some programs have reported a decrease in time spent reviewing applications, because Casper helps them distinguish between top applicants.

Positive Impact on Recruitment

Programs are observing that more motivated applicants are applying which is leading to higher quality candidates.

MMI Performance Prediction

A pilot study from the University of Wollongong found a significant correlation between Casper score and MMI score, R=0.38, p<0.0001.

Fewer Professionalism Issues

95% of disciplinary action to the medical board in the US was attributed to professionalism issues in medical school. Casper aims to identify these individuals early on in the admissions process.

Better Performance on Non-Cognitive Sections of Licensure Exams

Casper has been shown to demonstration moderate predictive validity to MCCQE national licensure outcomes of personal and professional characteristics.
